Surgical Services
At Alexandra Marine and General Hospital (AMGH), we aim to be a center of surgical excellence, featuring two surgical suites equipped with innovative technology. Our surgical team includes expertly trained surgeons, anesthetists, registered nurses, and registered practical nurses, enabling us to deliver quality care to our patients. We have two general surgeons, one gynecologist/obstetrician, and four GP anesthetists. We offer a comprehensive range of open and laparoscopic procedures.
Surgical Services
- On call surgical services for emergent cases
- Endoscopic procedures (gastroscopy and colonoscopy)
- General surgery (appendix, gallbladder, hernia, bowel)
- Gynecological/obstetrical surgery (hysterectomies, vaginal repairs, laparoscopies, tubal ligations, caesarian sections)
Referral Process
You must be referred to one of our surgical services by your health care provider. Many patients requiring elective surgery will be scheduled to visit the pre-operative clinic prior to their surgery date. Each patient will meet a nurse who will provide him or her with information about what to expect. The nurse will ensure all required tests and paperwork are complete. Some patients will also be scheduled to see an anesthesiologist who will ensure any potential health problems are identified. It is important that you bring your health card, all your current medications and any records concerning your health.
