Our Role in Setting Healthcare Standards

We play a critical role in setting healthcare standards that reflect our community's diversity. Our hospitals are committed to creating a safe, inclusive environment, enhancing patient care through Equity, Inclusion, Diversity, and Anti-Racism (EIDA-R).

Diverse Workforce, Enhanced Care 

A diverse workforce enables us to better understand and meet community needs, ensuring all patients feel respected and improving care satisfaction. By addressing discrimination, including anti-racism and gender bias, and upholding the rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, we aim to provide compassionate, high-quality care. This inclusive approach enhances patient outcomes and fosters a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered.

Comprehensive Training and Development 

We provide staff training programs to support these principles. This includes workshops on cultural competence, bias awareness, and anti-discrimination practices, ensuring our team is equipped to provide equitable care and contribute to an inclusive healthcare environment.

Land Acknowledgement and Action

Land Acknowledgement

We understand the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Ojibwa and Wendat. Treaty 29 and Treaty 45 ½ are the established agreements to peacefully share and be stewards of the land. We recognize the long history of Indigenous and First Nations Peoples of Turtle Island and show our respect to them today.

To read and understand the 94 “Calls to Action” of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. These urge all levels of government to work together to change policies and programs in a concerted effort to repair the harm caused by residential schools and move forward with reconciliation.
