Volunteer

The South Huron Hospital Auxiliary has been working as a volunteer non-profit organization to support the care given at the South Huron Hospital since 1953. They are a dedicated group of 146 members who work tirelessly to serve the hospital and patients through their gift shop profits, rummage sales, and special fundraising endeavors.

South Huron Hospital has launched this initiative designed to meet the social needs of our inpatients experiencing dementia. Volunteers will meet with patients to engage in various activities that provide companionship and joy, enhancing their overall well-being.

The Patient Experience Panel (PEP) is a committee of patient experience partners that work with staff members, physicians and volunteers on projects and/or committees that have a direct impact on patient care. By working in partnership, we give a voice to patients and families, creating a culture of patient centered care which improves the patient experience at our hospitals.

Members are former patients and family members of patients who have received care in various areas of our hospitals.

The PEP meets at least four times a year to give input on hospital initiatives and improvement projects. Meetings may be held in person or virtually. Members may also work with individual hospital committee or projects such as Accreditation, Falls Prevention, Accessibility or Hospital Codes.
