What to Bring

What should I bring with me?

Ontario Health Card

Your Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) will cover all of your in-hospital costs except for preferred accommodations and transportation costs. If you don't have OHIP, you are responsible for all costs incurred during your stay with us.

Full list of current medications

It is crucial that our physicians and nurses are aware of any medications, vitamins, herbal and food supplements you are taking. Please bring your medication bottles and an up-to-date list of medications, including: your name, the dosage you take and frequency.

Personal items

You may wish to bring a brush, dental care products, shaving products, skin care products, pajamas and slippers. Our hospitals do not supply these items. Please label all of your personal items and leave valuables at home. We are not responsible for any personal items that go missing.

Scent-free environment

We ask that you please minimize the use of perfume products, and avoid bringing in flowers with a strong smell. Strong scents can trigger allergies, asthma, and other respiratory issues, making it imperative to ensure a comfortable and safe space for everyone.

For more information on what to expect when visiting one of our hospitals, please refer to the Patient & Family Handbook.

What to Leave at Home

Valuables

Please do not leave valuables such as jewelry, credit cards and large sums of money in your room unattended. Send valuables home, or ask to have them locked up in our safe located in the Business Office. Our hospitals are not responsible for any personal items that may go missing.

Environmental Sensitivity

Our hospitals will provide measures for the protection of patients, medical staff, staff, volunteers and visitors regarding environmental sensitivity exposure. In recognition of the potential risk to sensitive individuals, it is necessary to evaluate, eliminate or minimize such exposure. The procedure for dealing with individuals with environmental sensitivity will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
