Alexandra Marine and General Hospital

For over 25 years, Alexandra Marine and General Hospital's Diabetes Program has been at the forefront of diabetes care as one of the eight renowned Huron Perth Diabetes Centers. Our dedicated team, including a Registered Dietitian and Nurse Diabetes Educator, collaborate to deliver comprehensive nutrition education for individuals with diabetes and prediabetes.

Provided Services

  • Assessment, clinical monitoring and medical management.
  • Routine follow up for insulin pump management.
  • Blood pressure and blood sugar checks.
  • Focus on prevention of complications and development of healthy lifestyle habits.
  • Individual counselling for nutrition, weight management, pre-diabetes, and diabetes.
  • Provision of blood sugar meters and education on their use.

Our program works in a team setting with Certified Diabetes Educators, to provide support and education to persons with diabetes and prediabetes. Our Dietitian also counsels persons to help optimize their nutrition intake for health issues such as; digestive disorders, celiac disease, lactose intolerance, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and healthy heart diets.

There are many ways to benefit from meeting with our Dietitian:

  • Healthy meal planning on a budget, including grocery shopping and label reading
  • Manage high blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Would like to increase weight and nutrition intake
  • Would like to learn how to count carbohydrates
  • Would like to learn more about healthy eating

South Huron Hospital

South Huron Hospital's Diabetes Program has been at the forefront of diabetes care as one of the eight renowned Huron Perth Diabetes Centers, and provides inpatient and outpatient services to adult patients with pre-diabetes, gestational diabetes, Type 1 diabetes, or Type 2 diabetes.

The Exeter Diabetes Program Team is composed of Certified Diabetes Educators (CDE). These individuals are health professionals committed to excellence in diabetes management and specialize in helping you develop skills to manage your diabetes through education and coaching. CDEs must pass the Canadian Diabetes Educator Certification Board exam.

Appointment Process

Your doctor may refer you to the Exeter Diabetes Program. Alternatively, you may simply call our office to book an appointment.
