The Manager, of Support Services will oversee Environmental Services, Food Services, Clinical Nutrition/Diabetes and Speech Language Pathology departments ensuring the best in patient care experience. This position will be responsible for managing the departments at the South Huron Hospital, Exeter. The responsibilities of the Manager of Support Services will include: 

 

  •  All aspects of hiring, performance management and scheduling team members
  • Ensuring consistency of Food Safety Standards, Best Practices for Environmental Cleaning and Infection Control standards are met
  • Ensuring quality standards are maintained through the performance of audits and feedback to staff
  • Maintaining policies and procedures within the department, and leading new initiatives and projects
  • Managing the departmental budgets, inventory, including purchasing of supplies and equipment
  • Supporting and ensuring a collaborative working environment
  • Be assigned to the Administrator on Call Roster 

 

 
Extra Information:

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a recognized Food Services and Nutrition Management program or equivalent or Business Administration degree
  • Be a member in the Canadian Society of Nutritional Management (C.S.N.M) or Dietitians of Canada an asset
  • Safe Food Handlers Certificate an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of applicable Health Care and Infection Control standards
  • Certification in WHMIS and JHSC would be an asset
  • Must be trained in PIDAC- Best practices for Environmental Services
  • Certificate in OHHA Environmental Services Leadership Program/equivalent, or completion of the OHHA Environmental Services Leadership Program within 1st year of employment
  • Current Police Check/Vulnerable Sector Screen and immunization status required upon hire

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in a hospital or Long-Term Care setting 
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to unpredictable and changing situations
  •  Ability to work independently without supervision, in addition to leading teams
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience and knowledge of Environmental Cleaning Standards, Infection Prevention and Control, PIDAC and Housekeeping Cleaning Standards and Procedures
  • Experience managing employees in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of computer use for the purposes of work processing and spreadsheet development
  • Strong working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards required to maintain a safe working environment
  • Working knowledge of complex nutritional needs of hospitalized patients including therapeutic modifications
