Brian Heagle Named Chair of HHS Board

August 01, 2025

Huron Health System (HHS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Heagle as Chair of the Common Board of Directors, following this year’s Annual Meeting.

Brian is a founding partner of FDH Lawyers and a retired business lawyer. He brings extensive governance and public service experience to the role, including leadership positions with other hospitals and their foundations. A strong advocate for community engagement, he supports informed, innovative, and practical local solutions that reflect the unique healthcare needs of Huron County and its surrounding municipalities.

"Stepping into this role is both an honour and a responsibility I embrace with deep purpose," said Brian. “While the path ahead will be incredibly challenging, it is full of great potential and opportunity. We belong to passionate communities, intensely committed to healthcare, and we share that same passion. Together, we will continue to address the immediate needs of our hospitals, while also shaping a future that truly reflects what matters most to every family and neighbour.”

Prior to transitioning to the Common Board of Directors, Brian served as Vice Chair of the South Huron Hospital Board of Directors. During this time, he also represented the Board on the South Huron Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.

“Brian brings not only a deep understanding of governance and local healthcare needs, but a real sense of heart to everything he does,” said Jimmy Trieu, President & CEO of Huron Health System. “He believes the best solutions come from working together as a team. His commitment to partnership, along with the diverse, cross-sector experience around the board table, positions us well to strengthen local care and make meaningful progress.”

Brian stresses the need for proactive local leadership in today’s evolving healthcare environment. “We can’t wait for every solution to come from the provincial level,” he added. “We have to lead with and advocate for workable strategies that reflect the priorities of our residents."

Brian succeeds Glen McNeil, whose term as Chair concluded this year. Glen will continue to serve on the Board, providing continuity and support during the transition. HHS extends its heartfelt gratitude for his outstanding leadership and commitment over the years.
