Qualifications:

  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
  • Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years related nursing experience preferred
  • Computer literacy; working knowledge of Meditech
  • Thorough understanding and commitment to Patient and Family Centred Care
  • Well-developed patient assessment skills
  • Medication administration
  • IV therapy 
 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to effectively manage a variety of patient conditions.

  • Ability to organize related activities; to remain flexible; and adapt to crisis situations and rapid change
  • Ability to work weekends and rotating shifts, to go on patient transfers as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and provide leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of the interdisciplinary care team, and to communicate effectively to team members, physicians and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize patient-care tasks.
  • Good attendance and work record is essential
  • Self-directed, motivated team player with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education
  • Sound problem solving, conflict resolution and decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills 
  • Consistently meets attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts
