Alexandra
Marine and General Hospital operates Huron Community Mental Health Services
(“HCMHS”), a mental health organization that welcomes individuals 16 years of
age and over seeking treatment for their mental health through individual and
group treatment services. As a member of
the interdisciplinary team at HCMHS, the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Clinician
provides therapeutic programming (both individual and group based) to support service
users living with mental health challenges. The PSR clinician collaborates with
the service user to develop patient-centred goals, conducts individual
assessments, creates individualized treatment plans and delivers programming
that promotes mental, health and socio-emotional well-being. Our programs promote stability, recovery, resilience
and community integration by focusing on each service user’s strengths,
interests and goals.
- Registered
Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Recreation
Therapist, or similar
- Current
registration, in good standing, with an approved College, in the designated
profession, in Ontario
- Demonstrated
competence in the application of diagnostic and treatment procedures in a
Mental Health setting
- Demonstrated knowledge
of the etiology and treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders
- Extensive
knowledge of community-based resources
- Experience in individual and
group counselling and treatment planning
Experience - Three
years’ recent hospital and/or community experience providing treatment to
seriously mentally ill patients
- Ability to
effectively manage a complex clinical caseload in an outpatient health care
setting
- Superior
interpersonal communication skills (oral and written)
- Strong time
management, prioritization and organization skills to effectively address
multiple tasks/duties and timelines in a fast-paced outpatient clinical
environment
- Ability to use
independent judgement and maintain confidentiality of records, actions, and
information
- Demonstrated
competence in counseling, problem solving and mental health assessment skills
- Demonstrated
competence in providing individual and group therapy to mental health patients
- Demonstrated
competence in providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment
plans
- Ability
to work with patients and families in crisis
- Ability
to provide consultation to physicians, nursing staff and allied health professionals
- Ability
to provide clear, concise documentation and record keeping
- Ability
to perform as a self-directed, motivated, multi-disciplinary team player with a
commitment to evidenced based, best practices
- Commitment
to ongoing professional development and continuing education in mental health
and addictions
- Access
to reliable transportation and ability to work as assigned in all Huron
Community Mental Health Services locations
- Consistently meets attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts
