The Admitting function involves patient registration for In-Patients and Operating Room patients, medical and surgical day cases, related clinics and the organization of same. All business shall be conducted in a confidential, professional manner. Value Added Service is key in this position. Communication with hospital staff, other health care facilities, physicians, and of course, the patients, will be done in an understanding, respectful way, knowing that this department is often the first contact the client may have with the Hospital.
- Medical Secretarial Diploma
- Recent related work experience as an Admitting Clerk
- Hospital experience preferred
- Accurate keyboarding and data entry skills
- Computer literate and thorough knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Hospital Software experience an asset)
- Customer focused and have a track record of positive patient relations
- Demonstrated good health and attendance record
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Must be able and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as needed
- Professional demeanour and excellent attendance are required
- Sort, prepare, review and file various documents
- Well organized and demonstrates initiative
- Ability to handle stressful situations and changing priorities
- Ability to perform scanning duties
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and desire to work in a team environment
