Overview:

The OR Booking Clerk performs clerical functions of the Perioperative Services Department. The incumbent organizes operating room schedules, bookings, consults, appointments and various clerical functions as assigned. All interactions must be handled in a professional, confidential, courteous, business-like manner.

 

Qualifications:

  • Medical Office Administration Certificate required
  • Medical Terminology required
  • 2 years related experience within the past 5 years required
  • Post Secondary Education in Medical Office Administration required
  • Meditech – OR plus and Community Wide Scheduling experience preferred
  • Experience reporting data to Cancer Care Ontario Wait Times Information system preferred
  • Experience working in a perioperative environment preferred  
 

Required Skills:

  • Keyboarding and data entry skills
  • One year experience in health care field preferred
  • Switchboard operation
  • Telephone and word processing skills
  • Booking, scheduling and registering appointments
 

Abilities:

  • Computer literacy and accurate keyboarding skills required
  • Demonstrated public relations skills with ability to problem solve effectively
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload
  • Self-motivated with the ability to perform with limited direction and/or no supervision
  • Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and privacy issues
  • Able to fulfill AMGH Standards for Behaviours of Excellence
  • Good attendance and work record is essential
