This
position is responsible for promoting evidence-based practice, ensuring
high-quality patient care, and supporting the professional development and
growth of nursing staff.
The
Clinical Practice Educator is responsible for designing, coordinating, and
implementing comprehensive orientation programs for newly hired nurses. This
position plays a vital role in the success of new nurses within the
organization. By providing comprehensive support and education during the
crucial early stages, this role contributes to building a skilled and confident
nursing workforce that delivers high-quality patient care. This position will
involve both didactic and clinical teaching.
- A Bachelor's or Master's
degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN).
- Minimum 8 years clinical experience
in a hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of nursing
best practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to work
collaboratively with diverse teams.
- Ability to analyze data,
identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in computer
systems and healthcare technology.
- Commitment
to continuous professional development and staying up-to-date with nursing best
practices.
- Provide
clinical leadership and expertise to nursing staff, guiding them in delivering
safe and effective patient care. Collaborating with other healthcare
professionals to develop and implement best practices that improve patient outcomes.
- Designing
and implementing educational programs and training sessions for nurses to
enhance their clinical skills and keep them updated with the latest healthcare
trends and technologies.
- Promoting
evidence-based practice by incorporating the latest research and best available
evidence into nursing protocols and procedures.
- Identifying
areas for improvement in nursing care and patient outcomes, and leading quality
improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality of care provided by the
nursing team.
- Collaborating with nursing leadership and other stakeholders to develop, review,
and update nursing policies
and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best
practices.
- Leading, monitoring and evaluating the onboarding and orientation of nursing staff,
providing feedback, and assisting in the development of performance
improvement plans where necessary.
- Providing guidance
and support to nursing staff,
fostering a positive
work environment, and promoting a culture of professional
growth and teamwork.
- Ensuring
that the nursing department adheres to all relevant healthcare regulations,
standards, and guidelines.
- Staying
abreast of the latest developments in nursing research and technology and facilitating the integration of new
findings and innovations into clinical practice.
- Lead
Professional Practice Committee, and participate ad hoc on various other
committees (ie. Ethics, Emergency Response)
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and subject matter experts to design and develop a structured orientation program for new nurses
- Provide
individualized support and guidance to new nurses during the onboarding process. Conduct hands-on clinical
training sessions to demonstrate and reinforce proper nursing practices. These
sessions may involve skills demonstrations, case studies, and simulations. (ie.
Mock Code Blue)
- Evaluate the progress of new nurses
during the orientation period through skill assessments,
competency evaluations, and feedback from preceptors and nurse managers.
- Develop and
curate educational resources and reference materials to support ongoing
learning during and after the orientation period.
- Collaborate with nurse managers, nurse educators, clinical
scholars, and other healthcare
professionals to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive orientation process.
- Continuously
review and enhance the orientation program based on feedback, best practices,
and changes in healthcare regulations.
- Maintain
accurate records of orientation activities, assessments, and evaluations. Generate reports on the progress of new
nurses and present them to relevant stakeholders
- In
collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, develop an education plan focused
on improving clinical practice, promoting evidence-based care, enhancing
critical thinking skills, and supporting professional development.
- Foster a
culture of continuous learning and professional growth among nurses, leading to
improved patient care and better healthcare
outcomes.
- Consistently meets
attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled
shifts
